Getting from Past to Present

The good news is that you can hurdle over these reason
and successfully add regular exercise to your life.
Try a new approach/perspective about exercise in your
life with the suggestions that follow.

    1. LET GO OF THE PAST
Acknowledge and release old and negative attitudes.
They can be unhealthy roadblocks. They are not useful
to you anymore, and you have a choice about what you
thing about. So let go of them and start anew.

    2. THINK DAILY, NON- NEGOTIABLE
Do you think about whether or not you're going to
brush your teeth each day?  Probably you include it in
your routine, and it is non-negotiable; you wouldn't
think of not brushing your teeth. This is how you can
think about your exercise. It is something you fit
into your day; it is non-negotiable, and you just do
    it.

    3. ADVENTUROUS SPIRIT
When was the last time you tried something new and
healthy? Challenge yourself; be a "Risk Taker". Do a
new fitness activity or pick up a familiar but not
    recent one.

    4. SHORT-TERM COMMITMENT
Did you commit to marriage after the first several
dates? No. When you exercise, don't worry about the
whole future of your exercise routine. Add exercise to
your life as you would a long term relationship; day
by day. Start out dating, "go slowly", and take some
time to get to know yourself through activity. Build a
solid relationship. Do a 2 week exercise trial (stay
with it). You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.
This will be a very healthy marriage!

    5. MAKE PEACE TO MAKE HEALTH/FIND THE APPRECIATION
Maybe you think that you will  never enjoy exercising.
It that is the case, then "make peace" with exercise
and find the good in it. Learn to appreciate what it
does for you (improved energy, better mood, etc.) With
time, you may come to love it!

    6. TURN YOUR VANITY INSIDE OUT
How much time do you spend on your exterior appearance
such as you clothes, hair, nails, skin and eyes? Many
people spend more time attending to their exterior
appearance than their interior health. The truth is
that without your interior health, your exterior
appearance of health is meaningless. Turn your view of
your health 'inside out" Next time you look in the
mirror, look deeper into your body. Imagine the
interior of your body and know that regular exercise
    will improve it.

    7. GREAT INVESTMENT
For only 2% of the time in your day you can reap
tremendous returns on that small investment of time.
And you, not other market considerations, control the
investment. Think of your exercise time as investment
in your health that will yield invaluable returns.

    8. PRACTICAL APPROACH
Use the exercise as transportation: walk, jog, run,
skate, roller blade, ski, and bicycle for errands, to
work, for visits. You will get fitter and so will the
environment as you "spare the air" Include your family
    members too.

    9. MILITARY APPROACH
So, non of the mind sets above meant anything to you?
If that's the case, then take the exercise order....
"just Do It" (reference NIKE). It's good for you and
    your loved ones.

    10.  REAL HEALTH APPOINTMENTS
If you had a serious life challenging illness and
through the regular "treatments" you could reclaim
your health, wouldn't you plan your day/week with
respect to keeping and going to those appointments?
Exercise sessions are also lifesaving. They are a
advanced lifesaving because they save your life before
    there's a problem.

    11. LIFE INSURANCE
Regular exercise if vital to achieving good health and
protecting you from many preventable or lifestyle
diseases. It can be less expensive than what you pay
for most life insurance policies, and the benefits are
    realized while you are alive!

    WHAT DO FIT PEOPLE SAY?
Have you ever noticed people after they have
exercised? Have you ever seen runners or walkers after
their runs or walks, swimmers after their swims,
cyclists after their rides?  Very often, their eyes
and skin have a radiant glow, they have an energetic
"bounce" in their step, their posture is more erect
than that of others, their movements reflect better
than average balance, and they move with confidence.
You will probably notice how confident and relaxed
    they appear.

1900's causes of death in USA were:
    pneumonia, Tuberculosis, Gastroenteritis, Influenza

1990's cause of death in USA were:
    Heart Disease, Stroke, Cancer, Accidents

In 1900 these were biological causes that could be
reduced through vaccines and treatments. In 1990, on
the other hand, were related to lifestyle and could
be reduced through fitness. Fitness as a prevention is
effective, simple and inexpensive compared to the cost
of medical treatment for those diseases.
